“So,” Chris began and Darren ceased massaging his feet and allowed them to drop into his lap, crossing his arms defensively.
“What is it?” Darren asked tiredly, feeling a bit nervous. Chris was using the tone that implied bad or uncomfortable news was coming.
Chris smiled sheepishly. “How could you tell?”
“You haven’t touched your laptop keys in over an hour, you’re sitting uncomfortably still and you keep swallowing loudly,” Darren recited with a sigh. “I know you well Colfer, so out with it.”
Chris cracked his knuckles and exhaled loudly, turning more toward Darren. “So you met Adam Lambert the other day too right?”
Darren blanched, not expecting this at all. “What?”
“What did you think of him?” Chris asked quickly, a blush creeping up on his cheeks. “He’s cool right?”
“Yeah.. he’s awesome, duh. But why do you bring this up now of all moments,” Darren inquired suspiciously.
Chris coughed nervously, his gaze now flittering everywhere in the room except for Darren’s narrowed gaze. “Well..,”
“Well what,” Darren huffed impatiently.
“I met him yesterday as you know, and he had a fairly interesting proposition.”
“Which would be?” Darren prompted, then noted the subtle shift of Chris hand against his crotch. “Wait-“
Chris was beet red now. “He would like to um - join us - in the bedroom if that’s okay with you.”
Darren was speechless. He opened and closed his mouth several times before giving up, letting his mind wander. He wanted to tell Chris that the idea wasn’t too objectionable when the doorbell rang.
“Oh,” Chris jumped to his feet, hand flying to his throat on anxious instinct. “That must be him.”
“Chris are you seriously telling me you invited him over without asking me first?”
Chris shuffled his feet, eyes wide and darting. “I could tell him to leave if you want.”
Darren stared for a full minute before breaking into a million-dollar smile. Plans were already beginning to unfold.
“Go ahead and let him in.”
