That lovely non-verbal communication where Thor feels Loki’s glance and just shoves him back.
Shit. I never even noticed the shove. Here come the feels.
Hm. You know, okay I know this is coming from a Thor fan and all but, despite Thor saying “know your place, brother” and this still being in his arrogant little boy phase, I can’t help but to wonder if Thor also means his words and even the little shove as a means of protection. I mean, Thor does love Loki and always will, and even in the deleted scenes [which UGH it should’ve been in the movie] where Thor says, ‘You are coming with me aren’t you?’ it’s obvious that he does want Loki with him, but he also wants to protect him, IMO. It’s an arrogant kind of protection, yes, like, ‘I am your big brother, and I am stronger than you, get behind me, etc.’ but aren’t most big brothers like that to some degree? Of course the best thing to do was to not even go to Jotunheim at all, but lol this was warmonger!Thor we’re talking about. Of course later on he realizes that he was very much wrong and seeking out war is not very, uh, smart. But anywho, yeah, Idk, I see Thor here as a typical older brother.
THAT’S WHAT I THOUGHT. \O/
Oh gods this makes everything even more heartbreaking when you think about it because:
Loki probably never realized his brother did this kind of stuff to protect him.
I am an older sibling and when I think about it, I (being an arrogant person) would probably do something like that myself. Of course, not in those words (I’m not living in Asgard for gods sakes!), but in a manner such as that. Thor thinks he is protecting Loki, and he thinks Loki understands that he is trying to protect him….
But Loki probably doesn’t. Those words to him probably sound the same as they did to most of us: He is being pushed around as the younger sibling, his council is not wanted, to Thor at that moment (and the gods know how many other times this has happened), he is rather useless and in the way, and that push is his brother thinking he is not needed.
How many times did Thor think he is protecting Loki while Loki thought he was just being treated badly?
